8A – Solving The Problem
There are various solutions to this gym epidemic but the solution I have come across to be the best is an app that allows you to reserve certain machines at certain time. This will be done through some sort of logistics and algorithm that allows members of a gym to reserve that machine with a short window to get to the machine in order to use it. This will facilitate and expedite the time someone spends at the gym and having people see what machines are available will keep the gym busy throughout the entire day rather than just a certain time frame in the late afternoon/ evening. Time is money and people value their time and don't want to wait half an hour for a machine to open up. The app would be sold to a gym and then licensed like they do for keeping track of employee hours worked and systems like retail stores use for their cash registers.

I think that it is unlikely that people will continuously use this app if at all. Simply because reserving a time to use a machine at the gym would require proper planning ahead for an activity that has always been a first come first serve opportunity. It will cause issues with the many people who prefer the traditional method and also those who don't show up on time for their reservation.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see how in theory the app could work out but I'm a litle critical of how it would be used in pratice. I predict that some gym people would just reserve all their needed machines for the whole work out / a very long time so they are sure the can get all their sets done. Therefore I would suggets to put some restrictions on the app. Or simply just change the purpose of the app to be a service that inform you about the availability of the machines.
ReplyDeleteThis app could work if it was gym policy to have the app. Your market would have to be based in a very progressive area such as Oregon or Washington. However, the longevity of this app may not be there because people will eventually get tired of using an app every-time they have to workout. As for me, working out is mainly about time and convenience and I do not see an app being convenient. Then again, if theres a proper audience, there will be a place for your app to thrive in but it will be difficult
